The idyllic Connaught Hotel, which sits on a corner in the prestigious Mayfair Village, first opened its doors in 1897. After closing in 2007 in order to carry out a $150 million renovation and expansion, the luxury hotel has been transformed into one of the most distinguished settings in the city.

Each of the 90 guests rooms have been redesigned by renowned London designer David Collins, creating spaces that epitomize the understated elegance for which the Connaught is known. In addition to the guest room revamps, the hotel also added the Apartment at the Connaught, a penthouse suite that offers panoramic views of the city and Carlos Place, along with a wraparound balcony that invites lingering over meals and drinks.

While the lavishly appointed guest rooms combine contemporary style with classic elegance, the renovations carried throughout the establishment to include the addition of two bars, fine dining and an Aman Spa. The bars were designed by Collins and India Mahdavi, while the restaurant is overseen by chef Helene Darroze.

The Aman Spa, which is the first of the Amanresorts facilities to be added to a hotel not from the company, leaves guests feeling as if they’ve been transported directly to an Asian resort. Those familiar with the Amanresorts brand will recognize the discretion, design and intimacy that are hallmarks of the brand’s spas throughout Singapore.

The Connaught Hotel, which has a history of providing impeccable service in sumptuous surroundings, is now more modern and inviting, making it more than deserving of being known as the most distinguished city hotel in the world.
